A decade of I.J. Dewan Memorial Educational Workshop (10th) entitled “Organs Talk- Time to take Prevention” is going to be held on 22nd – 24thAugust, 2017 at Zakir Hall and Bhargava Auditorium, PGIMER, Chandigarh. It is a primary preventive program aimed to provide awareness among our younger generation about ill effects of alcoholism, smoking, junk food, driving without helmet, excessive use of mobile, misuse of antibiotics etc. The theme of the program is to “catch them young” and “seeing is believing”. We aim to motivate young students and general public to adopt healthy lifestyle through the display of diseased and normal organs like normal brain and brain with haematoma, skull showing pterion point, healthy lungs, smoker’s lungs and cancer lungs, fatty heart, normal aorta and aorta with atherosclerosis, normal liver and cirrhotic liver, posters on osteoporosis, balanced diet, awareness about breast cancer and also on antibiotic and mobile misuse. The workshop will be inaugurated by the Maj Gen M.S. Kandal and Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh.

In the morning sessions (8:30am -12:30pm), students from various schools of Tricity, Yamuna nagar and Ambala in the allotted batches will be attending this awareness programme.  Informative booklets translated in three languages will be distributed to the students. The workshop will be open for general public in the evening sessions after 2:00 pm. According to Dr Daisy Sahni, Head, department of Anatomy, the main aim of this workshop is to educate the young children about benefits of healthy living to enable them to realize the futility of unhealthy lifestyle, which leads to an irreversible ordeal of diseases.
