300 cycling enthusiasts took part in ‘Saksham Cyclothon’

‘Saksham Cyclothon’ a Premier Cycling Event. The cyclothon was flagged off by Mr. Parminder Singh DhindsaPresident, Cycling Federation of India from its start point Capitol Complex. Mr. Gagandeep Singh Sodhi, Deputy GM, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Chandigarh Retail Region & State Level Coordinator – (Oil Industry) Chandigarh will also be present.

The cyclothon saw participation of as many as 300 cycling enthusiasts. Not just this, there were 11 specially-abled children  too who took part in the Cyclothon, all of them participated under Special Olympics , Chandigarh banner. Mani Singh who won a Gold at National Cycling road race held at Ranchi in 2017 took part and so did Ashish who won a silver in the last Nationals held in 2016.

The Cyclothon was held as part of Saksham 2018 which is an awareness programme for fuel & gas conservation under aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA). The Cyclothon’s theme was ‘Cycle for health Environment & Conservation’.

“Saksham Cyclothon was organized to spread among masses the message to conserve fuel for future and to save the environment from pollution by using Cycle or public transport at least once a week. It highlighted the importance of oil conservation which in turn would lead to greener and pollution free environment.” Said  Mr. Gagandeep Singh Sodhi, Deputy GM, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Chandigarh Retail Region & State Level Coordinator – (Oil Industry) Chandigarh

The Cyclothon covered a distance of 7kms, from Capitol Complex to Rock Rose Auto centre, HPCL Petrol Pump in Sec 20.
