To discuss the problems of urological disorders and latest surgical advancements, a medical conference – Mayocon 2018 is being organized in the tricity, which has attracted participation of several renowned doctors and surgeons of the country. In this connection, a medical conference was held at Hotel Shivalik View in Sector 17,Chandigarh, where modern approach to the surgery of damaged urinary tracts of the injured persons and reconstruction techniques of the genitals were discussed.

Dr. Rajesh Gulia, Head, Urology Department, Mayo Healthcare Mohali and the convener of the Conference, said, “The number of vehicles is increasing in the country, resulting in the growth of road accidents. The annual road accident incidents has gone above 1 lakh in India. Besides the injuries in hands, legs and head, following the accidents, cases of damage to the delicate organs located in the middle part of the body, comprising urinal tract and sex organs are prominent.

Dr. Sanjay B Kulkarni, a well-known urologist and surgeon, said that the loss of genital functionality and difficulty in urination may result in a miserable life to the person. Thus, it is necessary to rebuild the damaged parts using new and advanced techniques.

Dr. Kulkarni’s surgery procedure is known as the ‘Kulkarni School of Urithral Surgery’. According to him, after proper surgical procedures, the patient becomes eligible for a normal life and can reproduce also. A full day workshop is also being organized along with live demonstrations and discussion of new methods of surgery under the Mayocon 2018.

It is notable that Dr. Gulia is a fellow of Glickman Urology Institute, Cleveland,USA. He is regarded as a specialist in Stricture Urethra and has written a book titled as the ‘Atlas of Urithroplasty’. He is considered to be a master of Genito-Urinary Surgery in this region.
