“How to crack Civil Services Examination ”

Students are always  under a lot of pressure – pressure to perform academically, pressure to perform in extracurricular activities, pressure to ultimately, make a good life. The one thread that touches upon all these is the choice of one’s career. It is a decision that is often taken under parental or societal duress. However, one must seek proper career counseling and guidance to make the right decision .Keeping in view  the same, IQAC cell of DAV College, Chandigarh organized a seminar on “How to crack Civil Services Examination ” in coordination with Chanakya IAS academy ,Chandigarh on 21st March,2017.

The resource person for the session was  Mr BharTendu from the  Chanakya IAS academy, Chandigarh. The resource person described the civil service system as the backbone of the administrative machinery of the country and the powerhouse which   runs the administration of India. He elucidated the audience that Indian Civil Services is no longer only about IAS and IPS. There is an increased recognition and awareness for other courses such as IRS, IFS, etc which is good for the field as a whole and also for the economic development of the country . He also specified the numerous benefits of joining the civil services such as prestige, tremendous diversity of jobs, widest networking, post retirement jobs, tremendous freedom to do work. He apprised students about the make and break methodologies for cracking the civil services successfully.

The resource person specified that a student aspiring to clear the civil services should prepare his own notes, be selective while reading newspapers, don’t try to read more books, make more and more practices for writing answers, give importance to statistics. The session invoked euphoric response from the students who participated in large number and cleared their doubts regarding the preparation of the civil services.Principal Dr B.C Josan congratulated Dr Rita Jain, Dr Komila  Parthi and Dr Shilpi Ahuja for organizing a session of extreme importance and benefit for the students. He also called upon the students to work hard and make a niche for themselves in the society.
