Dev Samaj College of Education holds ‘book donation’ event for needy children

NSS Unit of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 B, Chandigarh organized an event to underline the usefulness of literacy in society. The event began with the college prayer‘Bhala Chahna.’ The function was organized to raise awareness about ‘importance of literacy’ among the students and people in general. A campaign was organized for the benefit of deserving students where educational books including stories, poems and dictionaries as well as games were collected from the students for the purpose of donation for the underprivileged children of the adopted village Kajheri, Sector-52, Chandigarh.

 Dr. Kamini Gupta (Librarian), Dev Samaj College of Education, drew special attention towards ‘E-Literacy’, a campaign launched by the Ministry of Human Resource Department (MHRD), Government of India through a power-point presentation. She also made students aware about different facilities provided by websites like National Library and Information Services (NILS), SAGE Journal and College Library. The students were enlightened and they registered with National Library and Information Service (NILS) for their day-to-day information needs.

Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon, Secretary, Dev Samaj and Chairman, Dev Samaj College of Education, andPrincipal of the college Dr (Mrs) Agnese Dhillon motivated and encouraged the students to take a step forward and play their part in the society by donating more books. They also congratulated the NSS Programme officers, Mrs. Charanjit Kaur and Dr. Harpreet Kaur for successfully organizing the event.
