CELEBRATIONS OF REPUBLIC DAY IN PGGCG-11, CHANDIGARH

The staff and students of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh celebrated Republic Day with gaiety and fervour today. Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college unfurled the national flag.

Students while honouring the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect, expressed their views on the significance of freedom in the contemporary context and the progress of India during the last seven decades. They enumerated the accomplishments of the country in science, technology, defence, space research, medicine, literature, trade and many other fields.

Group and solo songs by the students of Music Department made the atmosphere nationalistic. Group dance by the students of Dance Department stirred a spirit of patriotism.

Addressing the students on this occasion Principal, Prof. Anita Kaushal emphasised that the Indian constitution is a living document and adapts to the changing needs of the hour. She stressed that besides being the largest democracy, its spirit is followed in thought, word and deed. She motivated the students to keep themselves updated and resolve to fight visible and invisible negative forces to enable gain new heights of glory. She encouraged the gathering to not only enjoy the rights but also pay due regard to the fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution.
