To promote Women Cricket in the state, PCA today started with the Punjab State Inter District Sr. women’s Tournament.2021. Eight teams namely Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Ludhiana, Barnala, Moga, Zone-A and Zone-B are taking part in the tournament. The Tournament is being played 50 overs a side on league basis.
Teams are divided into two groups.
Group-1 consists of Barnala,Patiala, Ludhiana and Zone-A consisting of Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Fazilka, Faridkot, Ferozepur and Sangrur
Group 2 consists of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Moga and Zone-B consisting of Nawanshahr, Mohali, Ropar, Hoshairpur, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala and Fatehgarh Sahib.
The 1stround of League Matches were played at Barnala and Amritsar District Headquarters and detailed results are as under:
Barnala VS Patiala- Patiala Women won by 6 wickets.
Barnala vs Patiala match was played at Ground 1, Barnala. Barnala won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting First Barnala was bundled out for 66 in 27.1 overs. Priyanka Rani 37 off 44 balls with 7 boundaries was the only Batswomen who entered in double figure score for Barnala. Manpreet Kaur 4 for 4, Kanika Ahuja 2 for 15 and Haizal 2 for 14 were the main wicket takers for Patiala. Patiala in reply was 67 for 4 in 12.3 overs and won the match by 6 wickets. Kanika Ahuja 23 with 4 boundaries was the main run getter for Patiala. With this win Patiala women got 4 points while Barnala got 0.
Zone-A vs Ludhiana- Ludhiana women won by 7 wickets
Zone –A VS Ludhiana women’s match was played at Ground 2 Barnala. Ludhiana won the toss and elected to field first. Batting first Zone A was bowled out for 97 in 45.3 overs. Inderpreet 18 and Alice 17 were the highest run getters for Zone-A. For Ludhiana Gurleen Jassal 4 for 22, Palwinderjeet Kaur 2 for 24 and Seema Purohit 2 for 4 were the main wicket takers for Ludhiana. Ludhiana in reply got the target of 98 runs in 20.2 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Ashmit Kaur 48* with 7 boundaries and Seema Purohit 16* were the main run getters for Ludhiana. With this win Ludhiana got 4 points while Zone-A got 0.
Amritsar VS Moga –Amritsar women won by 150 runs
Amritsar VS Moga match was played at Ground 1, Amritsar. Moga won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first Amritsar scored 184 for 6 in 50 overs. Neelam Bisht 53 off 59 balls with 6 boundaries, Kamya 46 off 128 balls with 2 boundaries and Pragati Singh 33 off 34 balls with 2 boundaries were the main run getters for Amritsar. For Moga Neha 2 for 43 was the main wicket taker. Moga in reply was bundled out for 34 in 33.2 overs. Sunita Rani 3 for 4, Praveen Khan 2 for 4 were the highest wicket takers for Amritsar. Amritsar won the match by 150 runs and got 4 points while Moga got 0.
Zone-B VS Jalandhar- Jalandhar women won by 8 wickets.
Zone-B vs Jalandhar match was played at Ground 2, Amritsar. Due to the wet outfield, the match was reduced to 41 overs each side. Zone-B won the toss and opted to bat first. Batting first Zone-B was bundled out for 90 in 41 overs. Sakshi 25 with 4 boundaries was the highest run getter for Zone-B.Simran Gandhi 2 for 27 and Komalpreet, Muskaan, Pratiba and Neetu scalped 1 wicket each for Jalandhar. Jalandhar in reply was 91 for 2 in 13.5 overs and won the match by 8 wickets. Srishti Rajput 51 off 53 balls with 10 boundaries was the main run getter for Jalandhar. With this win Jalandhar got 4 points while Zone-B got 0.
