As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav under “Iconic week” celebration, N.S.S. Unit of Govt. College of Yoga Education and Health celebrated the international Women’s Day, 8th March, 2022 on the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”. The felicitation-cum-cultural event began with the lightening of lamp, seeking the blessing of Ma Saraswati.

Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the College formally welcome the Chief Guest, Madam Anita Pal, wife of honourable Adviser to the Administrator, Special guest of the occasion Mrs. Hargunjit Kaur, IAS, Mrs. Purva Garg, IAS, Dr. Palika Arora, PCS, Dr. Jasbinder Kaur, Director GMCH-32, Chd, Dr. Simranpreet Kaur, BAMS, Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson CCPCR, Chd, Ms. Beenu Rajpoot from Beenu Rajpoot Films & Agrima Society for Arts.

Dr. Sapna Nanda lauded all the eminent women personalities and shared their achievements, accomplishments and their inspiring life stories. In her address she spoke about the need and importance of empowering women and talked about the immense contribution of women in combating the global pandemic.

All the distinguished women present for the occasion shared their experiences and challenges faced by them in their journey of success. They also motivated students, staff and general public members to treat women at par with men and provide them with ample opportunities to realize their true potential which is the foremost responsibility of the society.

The Chief Guest Mrs. Anita Pal in her address spoke about the fact that every day should be celebrated as Women’s Day and should not be limited to one specific day. The special guest Mrs. Hargunjit Kaur, Special Secretary Finance, Chandigarh Administration congratulated all the women on this occasion and said that every woman should be proud of being a woman and celebrate womanhood.

Another special guest Mrs. Harjinder Kaur,Chairperson CCPCR, Chd while addressing the gathering emphasized that one should inherit qualities from the mother who is an inspirational torch bearer and who is the best in the society.

Special guest of the occasion Mrs. Beenu Rapoot from Beenu Rajpoot Films & Agrima Society for Arts brought a bonanza of the day by releasing a documentary of the college featuring Dr. Sapna Nanda, Principal of the college and other faculty members. Dr. Simranpreet Kaur summed up the occasion with beautiful thought that Equality comes from within and one should respect the other gender and its perspective.

A variety of cultural items were presented by the students of the college as part of the celebration which comprised Yoga Demo, Skit showcasing Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow. The stage was hosted by Mrs. Anupma Kaushal and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Gunanidhi Sharma Around 90 participants attended the event.
