Punjab LSA Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and Director General Telecom HQs organized an Annual North Zone Conference on Security related matters for the officers of DoT, delegates of Central LEAs including MHA, NCB, CBDT, DRI, IB and State Police of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Uttar Pradesh. Representatives of Telecom Service Providers viz Airtel, Reliance Jio, BSNL, Vodafone Idea Ltd., COAI, ISPAI and C-DOT at Taj, Sector 17, Chandigarh, Punjab. More than 100 participants attended the workshop.
The event witnessed the presence of Sh. Ajay Kumar Sahu, Member (Services), Digital Communication Commission (DCC), Sh. Satinder Kumar Jain, Director General Telecom, Sh. Naresh Khanna, Addl. Director General, Punjab and Addl. Director General Telecom. from 6 LSAs of DoT (Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, UP (East), UP (West)) along with DDGs of DoT and very senior representatives from all stakeholders.
The importance of telecom security cannot be overstated. Every day, we witness attempts to breach, misuse, and exploit our telecom resources. These threats not only jeopardize our personal and financial information but can also pose significant national security risks. Hence, the Conference was organized with the aim of covering important subjects on Security related matters and to provide a platform for closer interaction and better coordination among all the stakeholders.
Subsequently presentations and discussions were held on the following security related topics: –

Experience sharing/Panel discussion of effective Utilisation of Sanchar Sathi module-TAFCOP, CEIR & facial recognition system-ASTR.
Unearthing of illegal telephone setup-Way forward

Cyber Police Portal – Utilization and curbing of misuse of telecom resources
Cyber security and digital forensics
CMS/IMS-Introduction and feature desired by LEAs.
In conclusion, today’s deliberations will pave the way for a safer, more secure, and more resilient telecom infrastructure. Let us collaborate, innovate, and work together towards this common goal.
