An adage by Ernest Hemingway “There is no friend as loyal as a book,” can never be ignored, after all books give you knowledge, wisdom besides keeping your secrets.

A paradise for book lovers — The Book Fair 2017 kicked off at Exhibition Ground, Sec 34, Chandigarh and will be on view till March 5, 2017.

Organised under the aegis of Morvinandan Events the objective behind organising the event is to inculcate reading habits amidst the youth who are gradually parting ways with  reading habits.

Deepak Singla, Managing Director, Morvinandan, while elaborating about the event said, “Knowledge is Power and we want it to spread in every nook and corner of the Globe. We want to promote the culture of book reading besides inculcating reading habits, especially amidst the younger generation.”

The fair houses more than a million books from myriad genres such as fiction, non-fiction, Novels, Kids literature, Love Stories, GQ, IQ related books et al. Besides English, Hindi and Punjabi languages books in some of the other regional languages are also available. Ahmadiya Muslim Community is showcasing Urdu books and Yagoda Satsang books are based on Spirituality.

Elaborating further about the event Neeraj Vohra, Managing Director, Morivinandan said, “This is going to be no less than a paradise for book lovers as they will get a variety of books and literatures by seasoned authors and publishers under one roof. There is no doubt that the future of writing is indeed bright with a lot of kids from today’s generation getting inclined towards writing, but we need to make children aware of the benefits of reading as well.”

Besides the vast variety of books, the USP (Unique Selling Proposition) of Fair are the noted publishers and Authors who have put up stalls at the Fair & those who will be visiting during fair. Dr. Jeevan Bala, HOD, GCG, Chandigarh, inaugurated the fair. Prof. Avinash Kumar, Chairman, Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology M/o HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi was also present at the inaugural event.

As many as 85 stalls have been put up at the fair that will house more than a million books for the book lovers. Some of the prominent publishers like Grolier, National Book Trust, Blue Rose, Rajkamal Parkashan and Made Easy are participating in the fair.

The exhibition is a Mecca for scholars and literature lovers as it provides a hub of knowledge & there are chances that book readers may find some of the appropriate reference books at the book fair. The exhibition is open for all and anyone who are interested in reading.

Baldev Sharma, Chairman National Book Trust will also be visiting the fair on March 2, 2017. The fair will also house some of the rarely available books in the market giving an opportunity to book lovers read some of them. The fair will be open from 11 am till 8 pm.
