AICTE has decided to conduct a survey in the Country to record the number of seats filled in a particular course in a particular State. If the seats found vacant in large number against the sanctioned intake then AICTE has decided not to give fresh approval to open any new College or Course in that particular State.
This was said by Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Hon’ble Chairman, AICTE during the AICTE handbook approval process workshop held recently in New Delhi. Prof. M.P Poonia, Vice Chairman, AICTE; Prof. Alok Prakash Mittal, Member Secretary, AICTE; Dr. V.K Soni, Director (Approval), AICTE etc were also present during the workshop.
Meanwhile a delegation of All India Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions (AIFSFTI) having members of around 20 different State Associations under the leadership of Dr. Anshu Kataria, President and Sri R S Munirathinam, Chief Patron also met AICTE Chairman and submitted a memorandum regarding the problems being faced by the unaided technical institutions of the Country.

Integrated Campus Concept:
Dr. Anshu Kataria while speaking said that AICTE should reintroduce integrated campus concept in which colleges should be permitted to use common facilities like common land, buildings, library centre facilities, computer centres, playgrounds, faculty, Director etc. Kataria further added that 8-10 years back also this concept was introduced and it’s time to reintroduce this concept to save the resources.
Faculty Ratio:
Sri R S Munirathinam, Chief Patron while discussing about faculty ratio said that KAW committee has recommended faculty ratio as 1:25, where in AICTE, the prescribed ratio is 1:15. Munirathinam requested AICTE chairman to consider the request of KAW committee and fix the faculty ratio as 1:25.
Corporates should be allowed to run Colleges:
Sri K V K Rao, General Secretary while speaking said that like in medical education, Companies are allowed to open the medical institutions similarly in technical education also corporates should also be allowed to run colleges or existing societies be allowed to convert their trust to corporates as of now only registered trust societies can run the Technical institutions.
Merging, Amalgamations,Acquisition in Education sector:
CA Manmohan Garg, Finance Secretary while speaking said that in the Country, education is the only sector which is having highest Non-Performing Assets(NPA). AICTE should have meeting with the Finance Minister that no bank should have the option of sell or auction the college.
Garg also demanded thatmergers, amalgamationsacquisition should also be allowed in colleges. This will bring synergy in the colleges those who are not able to perform will be benefitted with this.
Mr. Amit Sharma, Vice President Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA); Sri Srini Bhupalam (Telangana), Sri Panduranga Shetty (Karnataka), Sri P Selvaraj (Tamil Nadu), Sri K V K Rao (Andhra Pradesh), Sh. T D Esawara Moorthy (Tamil Nadu), Sh. K G Madhu (Kerala), Sh. Rajeev Chand (Maharastra), Sh. Shridhar Singh (Rajastan), Sh. V K Verma (Madhya Pradesh), Sh. Sridhar (Andhra Pradesh) etc were also present in the meeting.
