The prestigious ‘Pro Amateur Silver Jubilee CGA Golf Cup’ organised by the Chandigarh Golf Association (CGA) at Chandigarh Golf Club, to mark 25 years of CGA’s inception, concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony for the tournament winners.
A highlight of the ceremony was the conferral of the Lifetime Achievement Award on Padma Shri Jeev Milkha Singh, celebrating his exceptional contributions to Indian golf. Brijinder Singh, President of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) and S K Sharma, IPS (Retd.), President, CGA bestowed the honour on Jeev.
Speaking at the event, S.K. Sharma said, “The Silver Jubilee celebrations are not just a milestone for CGA; they symbolize the enduring spirit of the golfing community. Over the past 25 years, CGA has not only nurtured world-class talent but has also fostered a culture of inclusivity and excellence in the sport. This event is a tribute to the past, a celebration of the present, and a promise for the future of golf in the region.”
Apart from giving away prizes to the winners of the tourney and presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Padma Shri Jeev Milkha Singh the event also saw 25 professional and amateur golfers being feted for their achievements, thereby recognizing their contributions to the sport and their role in bringing laurels to the city. Brijinder Singh, President of the Indian Golf Union (IGU) and Padma Shri Jeev Milkha Singh felicitated the achievers.
Scrolls and mementos were presented to a distinguished group of professional golfers in recognition of their exceptional achievements. Among the recipients were Gaganjeet Bhullar, Shubhankar Sharma, Karandeep Kochhar, Ajeetesh Sandhu,Gurbaaz Mann, Angad Cheema, Jairaj S. Sandhu, Harmeet Kahlon, Yuvraj Sandhu, Uttam Singh Mundy, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Ranjit Singh, Akshay Sharma, Amritinder Singh, Harender Gupta, Aadil Bedi, Pukhraj Singh Gill, Yuvraj Singh, Brashwarpal Singh and Vasu Sehgal. Bismadpal Singh, Manjot Singh, Ashbeer Singh Saini, Saanya Sharma, Anant Ahlawat, and Amandeep Drall were also honoured with Scrolls and mementos.
In addition, CGA functionaries were recognized for their vital role in promoting and developing golf in India. Awardees included Jaskirat Singh Grewal, Mahesh Kumar, Sagar Diwan, and Sukhwinder Singh for their dedicated service and leadership within the golf community.
Furthermore, IGU and CGC functionaries who have played a pivotal role in the sport’s growth were honored, including Sanjeev Rattan, Shashank Sandhu, Tusar Malhotra, Pranab Maggu, Ravibir Singh, and Rohit Singh Dagar.
