DIVYA AZAD

Directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, 200 – Halla Ho! is a story about how 200 Dalit women united and took law and justice in their own hands by lynching a gangster, robber and serial rapist in open court.

The trailer reveals nuances of each of the characters played by a talented and eclectic ensemble cast. Inspired by true events, the movie goes on to uncover the shocking events and circumstances which led the 200 women to take such a drastic step to seek justice.

‘200 – Halla Ho’ has an ensemble star cast comprising of Delhi’s munda and renowned TV actor Barun Sobti, Delhi’s mundi and ‘Soni’ fame actress Saloni Batra and Chandigarh’s munda and popular host / YouTuber, Sahil Khattar, Sairat girl Rinku Rajguru, National Award winning actor – Upendra Limaye and popular TV actor Indraneil Sengupta. Additionally, it marks veteran actor Amol Palekar’s comeback after more than a decade.

Sahil Khattar said, “My character, Balli Chaudhary is inspired by a notorious real-life character. When I read about him and got to know that he is literally one of the 10 deadliest serial killers of India and when I saw his photo, I realized that this skinny-looking guy had spread so much terror in society. I wondered how this skinny guy could spread so much terror. It was an interesting character to play and there could not be a better OTT debut than this for me”.

Barun Sobti said, “My character in the film is Umesh Joshi, a pro bono lawyer. In the current cinematic scenario of India, you’ll notice there is an exorbitant supply of grey characters. Umesh is one out and out positive character that I’ve done after a really long time. In fact, this might be one of the very few times where I had made up my mind to do the film even before I read the entire script”.

Saloni Batra said, “I am someone who wants to stand up for the injustice faced by women, I feel for it in my bones and getting an opportunity to do that through my art is something I had to grab on to and be a part of the voice and narrative that needs to be heard, analysed, and acted upon as a society”.

Written and Directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, produced by Yoodlee Films, the film production arm of Saregama, ‘200 – Halla Ho’ will premiere on 20th August on ZEE5.
