City Beautiful would be hosting an exhibition of models of the buildings designed by Le Corbusier from January 15 till February 15. Another major attraction would be an exhibition of works of Architect SD Sharma, who had worked closely with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret.
The event, being held at Government Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10, would be attended by Brigitte Bouvier, Director, Foundation Le Corbusier, Paris who will be coming especially to inaugurate Architect SD Sharma ‘s exhibition. His career of six decades will be presented in almost 50 panels.
Architect Rene Tan from Singapore, besides other prominent architects, including 94 year old S.D. Sharma himself are attending the event. Tan, who is the author of the models will also be there all the way from Singapore to be a part of this. He will also talk on the process and need to catalogue these important works of Corbusier.
The Museum is partnering with the A3 Foundation, the foundation promoting Art Architecture and Aesthetics based out of Chandigarh founded by Architect, Sangeet Sharma. The three significant milestones i.e Architect SD Sharma’s 94th birthday and A3Foundation’s 75th Event and Museum’s 50 years will further enhance this collaboration.
Both these exhibitions are taking place in the Museum designed by Le Corbusier, In which Architect SD Sharma assisted him.
This will be inaugurated formally on the 15th January followed by a day’s conference where the curator of this exhibition of Le Corbusier’s models Architect Renee Tan along with Architect Lillian Tay from Malaysia besides Architect SD Sharma and a few more from India will talk on the Chandigarh Modernism and its impact on the world.
Exhibition of Models of the building designed by Le Corbusier: These models are made and curated by the famous architect of Singapore Architect Rene Tan whose office RT+Q started with an exhibition of all the buildings of Le Corbusier. This became an international revolving exhibition which has till date been to 22 countries. They have approached the museum to exhibit these models in wood almost 192 in no. to be exhibited in the famous “Museum & Art Gallery of Chandigarh”. This is the first time such an exposition has been conceived and is being showcased worldwide.
Exhibition of the projects and works by Architect SD Sharma, who worked closely with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret: The exhibition comprises about seventy panels with projects spanning his six decades of profession including projects he is still working on in his private practice till date. This exhibition is presented under the banner of Chandigarh modernism.
