North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) is organizing ‘Classical and Contemporary Dance Festival of India 2018’ at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh from August 10 to 12, 2018 at 06.30 pm onwards.
Prof. Saubhagya Vardhan, Director, NZCC, Patiala informed that for the first time in Chandigarh, such dance festival is being organized in which Guru along with group will perform on the stage.
The festival will be inaugurated by Honble Governor of Punjab & Chairman, NZCC, Patiala, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore on August 10, 2018. A presentation of by Ms. Sangeeta Sharma, Anveshna Society for Performing Arts, New Delhi titled Athirathi based on Indias great mythological identity from Mahabharata – the two great warriors Karna and Arjuna will be presented. The wonderful choreography blending the martial arts with the finer nuances and aesthetics of the Indian classical dance, is like poetry on canvas.
On the second day i.e. on August 11, 2018, Padmashree Shobhana Narayan and troupe, New Delhi will present a presentation based on Kathak dance titled ‘Namami Hari-Hare’. Honble Governor of Haryana, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki will be the Chief Guest on the said occasion.
The festival will be concluded on August 12, 2018 with the performance by Padmashree and Padmabhushan Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan and troupe, who will present a Bharatnatyam dance presentation titled ‘Namami Gange’ exploring the contemporary relevance of the river in present times.
There is no ticket or entry fee for this festival.
