While formally assuming the charge of Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee as its President, Mr. Subhash Chawla was received by eminent Sikh Farmer Leader, Chandigarh State President of All India Jatt Mahasabha and National Delegate of the Mahasabha, Rajinder Singh Badheri and Punjab unit president of the Mahasabha, Harpal Singh Harpura and both Jatt leaders congratulated Mr. Chawla. The two leaders of the Jatt Mahasabha were present at the inauguration ceremony of Chawla, while Harish Rawat, in-charge of Punjab affairs of the Congress party and Pawan Kumar Bansal, former Union Minister and Treasurer of the All India Congress Committee were also present.

Farmer leader S. Rajinder Singh Badheri today on the occasion of International Punjabi Mother Tongue Day appealed to all Punjabis to be fully united for the common interest of Punjab and Punjabiyat. He also called upon the Congress leadership to forget its internal differences and fight against the ‘dictatorial’ government at the Center.

Mr. Badheri said that Congress was currently ahead of all other parties and there was very little time left in Punjab Assembly elections. Therefore, we should not leave any stone unturned in the preparations for this important Assembly election.

He also said that BJP and RSS had no idea about the real strength of Punjabis. Now, in the Assembly elections, the Congress party will have to come up with its own strategy and launch its own campaigns.
