To coincide with ‘International Yoga Day’ celebrations, the NSS units of Dev Samaj College of Education (DSCE), Sector 36-B, Chandigarh organised an online quiz on yoga awareness. Students were also asked to send in their own videos as well as pictures of performing yoga. The best pictures and videos, showing different yoga postures were recognized and suitably awarded. All the students were given away commendation certificates to mark the importance of yoga in one’s life.
Meanwhile, DSCE in collaboration with Directorate Sports, Panjab University, Chandigarh and State NSS cell held a demonstration of yoga in virtual mode.
Dr Agnese Dhillon, Principal, DSCE said, “The quiz and online yoga demo session were organised to enlighten the students about the life-long benefits of yoga and the need to master the art of aligning the body, mind and soul through it.”
The virtual event saw Mr. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh being honoured as the Chief Guest. The event began with a welcome speech by Mr. Singla, D.U.I. In addition to this, Dr. Rakesh Malik, Deputy Director Sports, P.U, Chd moderated the session. Acharya Raman and Dr. Neeru Malik were the resource persons who demonstrated the protocol. A common yoga protocol by the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) was performed by the faculty and students. It is important to mention that more than 500 participants including faculty and the students enthusiastically attended the session and followed the protocol.
