Minerva Academy’s proud legacy of producing exceptional Indian football talent continues, as five Minervans have been chosen for the senior India squad. Defenders Anwar Ali and Akash Sangwan, midfielder Jeakson Singh, and forwards Manvir Singh and Vikram Pratap Singh will represent India in the international friendly against Vietnam on October 12.
This high-stakes match, which will impact India’s FIFA ranking, showcases the trust in Minerva Academy’s training and development program. With 250 players developed for the national team across all age groups, Minerva Academy solidifies its position as a premier football institution.
Anwar Ali, a standout center-back, brings his exceptional defensive skills, recently securing the ISL League Shield and becoming the highest-paid transfer in the country. His presence will be vital in marshaling the defense against formidable opponents.
Akash Sangwan, an impressive full-back, offers solidity at the back and consistently delivers quality performances. His promotion to the senior squad is a testament to his growth and readiness.
Interestingly, Akash Sangwan began his playing career under Mr. Ranjit Bajaj, when he was the captain of the Chandigarh Santosh Trophy team while Akash Sangwan was the youngest member of the team. Akash also made his debut in the I-League in senior football for Minerva and was a part of Minerva’s title winning squad. From being a member of the initial 5-a side Minerva team in 2014 to bagging their first ever runner-up trophy in the I-League 2nd division and getting promoted to the I-League, Akash Sangwan has been one of Minerva’s very own special talents.
Jeakson Singh, India’s first-ever goal scorer in a FIFA World Cup match, returns from injury, bolstering the team’s midfield options with his defensive prowess and playmaking abilities.
The attacking duo of Manvir Singh and Vikram Pratap Singh will pose a significant threat to opposition defenses. Manvir, in top form after his recent league shield win, will seek to make a lasting impact. Vikram, the emerging player of the season, brings a fresh and exciting dimension to the team’s attack.
Minerva is incredibly proud of their boys for being selected for the national team and their achievements demonstrate Minerva’s commitment to developing world-class talent for Indian football.
Minerva Academy congratulates Anwar, Akash, Jeakson, Manvir, and Vikram on their selection and wishes the Indian national team success in their upcoming match.
