GLOBUS ORGANISES COMPETITIONS IN PGGCG-11, CHANDIGARH

The Department of Geography of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh organised ‘GLOBUS’, a series of Inter-class competitions today. The students showcased their creative potential and skills in various formats.

Power-point presentations made by the students on environment, climate and other geographical dimensions were very informative and thought-provoking. Maps displaying the demographic and topographic features in black and white, and in colour were appreciated by one and all. The students also presented diverse processes and phenomena in diagrammatic form which were very reflective and specific. Quiz for the audience was keenly contested and the questions were related to the core areas and aspects of Geography. The performance reflected that the students had a grasp on the fundamentals of the discipline.

In the cultural performances, folk dances of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Haryana were presented which were thoroughly applauded by the audience.

Prof. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the college gave away the prizes to the winners. Addressing the students, she congratulated them for presenting a spectacular blend of academics and culture. She motivated them to excel in their field and highlighted that the discipline of Geography is becoming very popular as many avenues are open in related fields. She stressed that they should go beyond academics and aim for research and innovation. Mr. Kanwar Iqbal Singh, dean and Prof. Nirupama Luthra, Vice-Principal also graced the occasion.
