The 76th Independence Day was celebrated at the Post Graduate Government College, Sector 46, Chandigarh, with great exuberance and patriotic fervor today. The function began with the unfurling of the national flag by the Principal, Dr. Abha Sudarshan. It was followed by the singing of the national anthem. Rich tributes were paid to the freedom fighters who valiantly fought for the independence of the country by the students and teachers. Students shared their views on the true significance of freedom and the role of youth in nation building. Patriotic songs sung by the students added to the spirit of the day.
In her address, Principal, Dr. Sudarshan, urged the students to value the freedom gained by the resolute efforts and unparalleled fortitude of their countrymen. She added that it is a day to rejoice and feel proud of what India has achieved. She motivated the students to bring in change by inculcating values of compassion, forbearance and selfless service. Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dean and Dr. Baljit Singh, Vice Principal also congratulated the staff and students on this occasion.The celebration was also marked by the distribution of sweets.
