The month-long campaign to bring awareness among  citizens about the acute need for petroleum conservation culminated at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Sector 26 here.

Dr. Amarpal Singh, IAS, State Transport Commissioner, Punjab, today was Chief Guest of Valedictory Function of Saksham 2021 (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav), the month-long campaign to bring awareness among  citizens about the acute need for petroleum conservation. Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas through PCRA (Petroleum Conservation Research Association) and Oil PSUs have been conducting fuel conservation drive.

Sujoy Choudhury, State Level Coordinator (Oil Industry Punjab), & Executive Director, IOC, Chandigarh gave welcome address and Shalabh Raj Gupta, State Level Coordinator (Oil Industry, U.T. Chandigarh) & Chief Regional Manager (Retail), HPC, Chandigarh Regional Office thanked the Chief Guest  and other senior dignitaries for  sparing time to grace the occasion and gave details of various activities organized by IOC, BPC, HPC, GAIL in Punjab & Chandigarh and  successfully completed Saksham 2021.

Amongst other prominent dignitaries’ present included, Lalit Bhatt, Chief General Manager, Marketing, GAIL India Ltd; Mohit Bhatia, State Head (Retail), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Chandigarh and Sanjeev Verma, Additional Director, Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), Chandigarh.

Officers from all oil companies, LPG distributors, retail outlet dealers, lube distributors, school children, participants from transport sector, among others were present on the occasion.

During the one month Campaign, various activities conducted in Chandigarh & various districts of Punjab. These included campaigns on fuel conservation in public places through debate, group talk, street plays, and wall painting competitions. Group talks on oil and gas conservation were conducted in resident welfare associations,  and housing societies.  One Mobile Van has been distributing PCRA Literature and showing films on oil & Gas conservation in Chandigarh & Punjab.

In addition to the month-long campaign online pledge was  also taken  on fuel conservation, & various fuel efficient driving contests were organized. LPG panchayats covering safety and conservation tips, and training of LPG delivery boys on LPG saving tips were organized in Punjab and Chandigarh.
