International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer was celebrated by the Department of Environment Studies at Post Graduate Government College, Sector – 46, Chandigarh. The day is celebrated to spread awareness among the masses over the depletion of Ozone layer, causes and possible control measures. On this day, an intra-college paper reading competition on the theme “Ozone: the Saviour”. Students from various streams of Arts, Computer Science and Commerce participated in the event with great enthusiasm. Students presented their views, ideas and mitigation measures for the protection of ozone layer. They expressed and applauded the efforts taken at National and International level has worked to address the vital issue of Ozone layer protection. The co-operation depicted in successful protection of ozone layer can lead the world to a green and a sustainable future. Principal of the college, Dr. Abha Sudarshan, gave the prizes to the winners. Dean of the college Dr. Rajesh Kumar and  Vice principal Dr. Baljit Singh also graced the occasion. The event was organised by Dr Ritu Sarsoha (HOD) and Dr. Amanpreet Kaur from department of Environment Studies.
