The name of a new candidate has appeared for the Lok Sabha elections from Chandigarh. Professor Devi Sirohi has announced to contest Lok Sabha election as an independent candidate from Chandigarh. Professor Devi Sirohi has done PhD from Punjab University and has been teaching History in various institutions for many years.
While announcing to contest elections, she said that I believe that I can make difference to the existing condition of the city. This is the main reason that I thought of contesting elections. I have a proven track record as chairman CCPCR and have strong following among colonies and students. If I win, I would like to work on stuck development projects in Chandigarh.
Speaking about her vision for Chandigarh, she said that being from the education sector; my first priority would be to provide quality education through technology to everyone. My emphasis will be on educating girl child. Apart from this, I will provide well-maintained health centres, work towards security for women and children, promote Chandigarh as IT sector, increasing employment for the youth, starting vocational centres for women, promote renewable energy specifically solar, improving city’s infrastructure and public transport system, are to name only few of my many agendas. My efforts will be to work together with the people of Chandigarh so that I can get information about their needs and problems and then I can solve them.
