Punjab & Sind Bank, India’s one of the public sector bank organized a Town Hall Meeting for the staff members of the Bank at Chandigarh. Sh. S Krishnan, MD & CEO, Sh. Ajit Kumar Das, Executive Director, Sh. Ravi Mehra, General Manager (Planning) and Zonal Managers of Chandigarh & Panchkula were present in the meeting.


This was the second town hall meeting convened by the Bank in 2 days. On 13.02.2021, a similar meeting was convened at Amritsar and on 14.02.2021 at Chandigarh.


Sh. S Krishnan, MD & CEO of Bank in his inaugural address talked about the Bank’s history, performance, corporate concerns and roadmap ahead for the Bank. He further informed that though the Bank has shown highest ever loss as on 31st December 2020, however it has strengthened its balance sheet and is well on the track of turnaround and taking a business paradigm shift to bring it back to profit in the shortest possible time.


He also informed that the Bank has revamped its Retail and MSME Credit Products with special focus on Central/ State, Govt/ PSU employees and reputed Educational Institutes and is also working on customised tailored products. MD & CEO informed that the Bank is expanding its Centralised MSME and Retail Group (CenMARG) for processing & sanction of MSME and Retail Credit with reduced Turn Around Time and has set up 2 more such offices, one at Amritsar on 12th February 2021 and 2nd one today i.e. 14.01.2021 at Chandigarh. These CenMARG will cater to all the branches of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh.

The Executive Director Sh. Ajit Kumar Das emphasized on putting the best foot forward for Low Cost Deposits. He emphasized that the key mantra for profit generation is Recovery of bad debts and prevention of slippage. He informed that for the turnaround of the Bank, each one of us needs to take the ownership of our role and responsibilities. He also informed the house about some comparative performance of some other banks in the area and emphasized on all efforts be made to be a Strong Bank with commitment to excellence and mobilize retail business opportunities and challenges be tuned into opportunities to take the Bank at new/ great heights.
