Six day long tailored GIAN workshop on the theme “Transition Metals in Organic Synthesis” under the aegis of CRIKC concluded today at SAIF/CIL Seminar Hall, PU. Dr. Sanjay Trehan, President, Panacea Biotec. Mohali graced the occasion and addressed the audience on sensitization of the important topic of organic chemistry in everyday sphere of life. He congratulated the organizers on the successful completion of the workshop.

Dr. Deepak Salunke, course coordinator, in his address briefed the participants and recapitulated the overview of the workshop. He exhorted the young participants towards the incorporation and vitality of organic chemistry in the industrialized world.

Prof. Rodrick Bates, Foreign faculty from NTU Singapore, with expertise in the field of organic chemistry deliberated upon various aspects of the theme. He was felicitated for his pivotal contribution in sowing the seeds of inquisitiveness and curiosity in the minds of young participants on the state-of-the-art topic. He also appreciated the hospitality of Indians at large and Panjab University in particular.

Prof. S.K. Mehta, Local GIAN Coordinator and Director SAIF/CIL thanked Prof. Arun Kumar Grover, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University for whole hearted support in conducting the GIAN programs. He also thanked  Dr. Bates for his untiring efforts in successfully imparting the course for young minds. He briefed about the high end instrument facilities available and the various events being organized in the department. He invited all on the forthcoming workshop on XRD next week and future GIAN courses.
