Creative facet of Textile Design Department will be manifest in “SUVYAN”-2018, the Annual Design Collection show of Home Furnishing & Apparel Products put together by the graduating students of Textile Design Department of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology, Mohali at Hotel Shivalikview.

The final presentation is an integration of the learning that the students imbibe during their education at the institute. Through the media of colors, materials, finishes and techniques students express their individual statements as design solutions for Fabrics, Home Furnishing Products, Stoles, and Apparels.

Sh. Sundar Sham Arora, Hon’ble Minister of Industries and Commerce, Punjab conveyed his good wishes and message for the success of the students.

Sh. Rakesh Kumar Verma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce, Punjab cum Chairman, NIIFT conveyed his blessings and wishes to the passing out students of Textile Design Department.

Sh. DPS Kharbanda, IAS, Director of Industries and Commerce, Punjab cum Director General, NIIFT who had previewed the collections earlier conveyed that the students had shown a very creative aspect of design which will definitely contribute to their success in the industry.

 Due to the Punjab Agri &Food Conclave at Ludhiana, Hon’ble Industries and Commerce Minister, Chairman, NIIFT and Director General, NIIFT regretted that they would miss the function today.

SUVYAN’ 2018 showcased 52 collectionsby the graduating students of Textile Design Department. Each student worked with an industrial client for a period of 5 months which lead to the development of their individual collections and exhibition of design work. Students created various products such as Scarves, Stoles, Home Furnishing Products as Bed sheets, Cushions, Duvet Covers etc. These were created as per the requirement and demand of the industry and their buyers.

The faculty members Ms. Shweta Sharma, Ms. Deepti Sharma, Ms. Indeep Sukarchakia, and Ms. Navneet Kaur played a vital role in guiding and mentoring the students so as to get a better outcome of their work.

An eminent jury made up of Textile designers, Industry experts and Art proponents were invited to evaluate the collections for the awards. The jury included  Mr. Yogesh Verma, Director, May Design Studio, Ms. Isha Kaushal, Senior Designer at May Design Studio and Mr. Sanjay Kulsheshtra, Asst.Vice President, Nahar Fabrics, Lalru.

The students worked with big names in the industry as Nahar Fabrics, Vardhaman, May Design, Bombay Dyeing, Indi Tex, Sogani Fashions, Meena Bazaar, Raga block printed, Shingora Shawls, Trident, Arvind Mills to name a few.

 Speaking on the occasion Sh. K.S Brar, Director NIIFT said “Suvyan plays an important role for our students to uncover their best creations. The collections are very creative, original and visually pleasing.”
