DIVYA AZAD

The office bearers of the Joint Forum for Chandigarh Industries, along with traders from the entire city, including the Industrial Area, declared that they have reached their limit with empty promises. They stated that they will no longer remain silent and are ready to fight till the end.

Despite the heavy rain, industrial traders from the Electric Market closed their businesses and marched to Tribune Chowk to question the Administrator/DC. Today, all city organizations joined the protest to support the industrialists for their genuine demands such as permission for B2C operations in industries, freehold rights, misuse, need-based changes, increasing FAR, the OTS scheme, shareholding registry, and a conversion policy for 3,000 small industrial plots.

Representatives of all political parties and the area SDM who arrived at the scene accepted the traders’ memorandum of demands and assured them that these demands would be promptly conveyed to the administration. They also assured the traders that a strategy to address the issues would be formulated in consultation with a special committee of the Joint Forum. However, during the ongoing protest, the traders received a message that the Advisory Committee meeting had been postponed until September 14, and that their issues would be included in the agenda.

Today’s protest saw the participation of all major city organizations, including
