Harjit Singh Sandhu, Director of Industries, UT Chandigarh distributed certificates to 120 participants at the valedictory function of Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) sponsored by his department and organised by Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) and Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Pharmacy, Sector 26, Chandigarh.
The program was designed to build awareness amongst the youth about alternative options and entrepreneurial opportunities for their career and to motivate them to setup their micro and small enterprises. The participants were also familiarized with the basic requirement for setting up their own ventures and facilities being provided by government through various schemes.
Harjit Singh Sandhu, emphasized the need to implement the government scheme for the promotion of micro enterprises in its true spirit. He also suggested the participants to avail the facility being provided under PM Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Startp Up India and Stand Up India.
Jaswinder Kaur, Principal, SGGS-26, Chandigarh, said, “I am glad that Department of Industries and RCED took the initiative of educating and motivating the students to opt for self employment. It is a major need of the hour. I would request Harjit Singh Sandhu to sponsor such programmes on regular basis.”
Paramjit Singh, Principal Director, RCED Chandigarh expressed his gratitude to the Department of Industries for sponsoring EDPs for the students of various colleges in Chandigarh. He also conveyed his thanks to the experts, who delivered talks on various aspects of setting up and managing the enterprise. RCED has trained more than 18,000 youth in their Entrepreneurship Development and above 20,000 in Skill Development Programmes.
