VR Punjab organized a three day ‘Baisakhi special’ children’s art competition. As many as 800 children from different schools of tricity showed their drawing and artistic skills in the competition which was themed on ‘Baisakhi’.
The activity was held as part of the ongoing Punjab Art Initiative(PAI) which is on till April 28, 2019 at the VR Punjab shopping centre.
Pankaj Renjhen, COO, Virtuous Retail South Asia (VRSA) said, ” VR Punjab hosts Punjab Art Initiative as part of its local Connecting Communities© initiative, an ongoing project that aims to encourage civic pride, strengthen the local economy and enhance Punjab’s image. The Baisakhi Special children’s art competition helped kids connect with the rich tradition and culture of ‘Baisakhi’ festival- an important festival in Punjab. The children got involved in creating wonderful paintings and drawings related to this.”
It is noteworthy that PAI 2019, in a dedicated month of artistic immersion, has turned VR Punjab into a hub of artistic activity. An ensemble of installations, curated through partnerships with leading institutions and eminent artists are on display. This year the collective has collaborated with Government College of Art, Chandigarh, The College of Architecture, Chandigarh, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, Government College of Fine Arts, Kumbakonam, Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai, Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam, Puducherry and Cholamandal Artists’ Village, Chennai
The month-long program, will also have an Art Bazaar in association with Vanity Box, a Baisakhi special food and music Festival Food Tadka showcasing a special installation marking the festival, and Punjab in Focus online photography contest amongst others.
