The 16th National Shastrang Championship began at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector-15, Panchkula on Sunday. The event will continue on Monday. The championship is being organized by Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art.
General Secretary of Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art, Praguruh Bikram S. Thapa, who has 9th Degree Black Belt and is also the founder of Shastrang art, said, “We want to make children more confident. That is why we provide this opportunity for them.”
Over 300 participants from all over the country are participating in the championship. The major states include Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, New Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar and Chhattisgarh etc.
The main events of the competition are: Defence Drill, Air Shield Drill, Pattern and Speed Drill. There are three age categories: Under 14, Under 17 and Above 19 years.
The opening ceremony of the 16th National Shastrang Championship was organized by Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art, Panchkula.
