Jungle Trail for School Kids Organized

Today, Yuvsatta and Department of Forests, Chandigarh Administration organized a ‘Jungle Trail & Bird Watching Trip’, at Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary behind Sukhna Lake for around 200 students of Govt. Model High School, Rehabilitation Colony, Dhanas and Govt. Model High School, Dhanas village, Chandigarh.

Regular bird watchers and environmentalist Kulbhushan Kanwar explained to the kids about rich flora and fauna and also hundreds of birds found in this region. He also added that Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary is an abode of wide variety of Mammals, birds, reptiles, butterflies and micro-organisms. And there are more than 150 varieties of birds including aquatic birds. Prominent among them are Peacock, Red jungle fowl, Grey partridge, Cuckoos, Night jars, Golden Oriole, Kingfisher, Swifts, Hoopoes, Hornbills, Barbets, Woodpeckers, Rollers, Barn owls, Parrots, Doves, Jacanas, Plovers, Coots, Hawks, Geese, Swan, Ducks, Grebes, Black drongo, Tree pie, Jungle crow, Bulbul, Hill myna, Koel, Bee-eater, Common Myna etc.
