Aakash Educational Services Ltd. (AESL), the national leader in test preparation services, distributed 1350 face masks amongst the citizens of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, equal to the number of its students who achieved 90% and above in the CBSE, State Boards and other Class X and XII examinations from Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, results for which were announced last month. Out of the 1350, an impressive 116 students were from the Chandigarh branch of Aakash Institute.

This is part of a state-wide campaign by AESL that entails distribution of around 27,000 face masks throughout various cities in Punjab and Haryana by the end of this week.

The distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. Manoj Kumar IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Security and Traffic, UT of Chandigarh, Chandigarh along with senior officials from AESL’s Chandigarh branch including Mr Parmeshwar Jha, Regional Director, AESL.

During this tough time, the initiative aims to drive awareness amongst the local communities about the safety and hygiene practices in an attempt to curb the spread of the pandemic.  The decision to distribute masks was taken in view of the alarming increase of COVID-19 positive cases across the country. This initiative makes it easy for everyone to protect themselves, since covering the face slows down the spread of the virus by preventing people from transmitting it to others.

Commenting on this initiative, Mr Aakash Chaudhry, Director and CEO of Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), said, “This initiative of distributing face masks is aimed to help people strengthen their fight against Covid-19. The scale of the problem at hand is humongous and it is the responsibility of every citizen and organization to commit towards building a safe nation. So far, we have distributed around 1350 masks in Chandigarh and will continue with this drive in different cities of the state in order to help people change their old face covers.”
