Ved and Vansh are the backbone of our family: Babasa

Ved has followed the footsteps of our Daughter-in-law Sandhya and has become IPS in the very beginning of the show and Vansh is a very strong character of our family which you will see from time to time in the coming episodes. Ved and Vansh are twin children of Sandhya and Sooraj. I have come after 20 years in the show, it has taken to the another level after 20 years but you will still get flashbacks of the first part of this show, said Babasa of Diya aur Bati hum.

This month, a new chapter of television’s iconic show ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ started. The show, Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji, sequel to the popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum went on air taking forward the legacy of the show that its predecessor left behind. Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji will narrate the story Kanak Rathi – Daughter of Sooraj & Sandhya and Uma Shankar in the sequel ‘Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji’.

Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji brought to fore the much loved characters: Bhabho, Babasa and Meenakshi, along with a fresh cast of Kanak, Ved, Vansh and Uma Shankar who will be taking the legacy forward.

Popular actor Ashok Lokhande who plays the character of Babasa in the show made a stopover in the city of Lakes today along with his on-screen grandsons Ved  (Mayank Arora) and Vansh (Kabir) to talk about the story forward and the new story of the audiences’ most loved show.

Babasa played Ashok Lokhande just like his character in season 1 has the same understanding nature intact. As the story moves forward, Babasa is now old and dotes on his three grandchildren, Ved, Vansh and Kanak.

Ved played by Mayank Arora has followed his mother’s footsteps and is now an IPS officer. He is very similar to Sandhya and loves his sister Kanak and brother Ved dearly. He is also the apple of his grandmother, Bhabho’s eyes. Vansh, on the other hand is an ideal brother to his sister Kanak. While Kanak is struggling to win back Bhabho’s love, Vansh is helping her in this quest. He is someone who often comes up with plans and ideas to reunite his grandmother and sister.

Talking about the show, Ashok said, “The show ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’, was a journey of two unlikely partners Sandhya & Sooraj who personified the ideal relationship, one of support and companionship giving Indian television their very own Ram-Sita Jodi. ‘Tu Sooraj Mein Saanjh Piyaji’ is the story of two completely opposite individuals-Kanak Rathi and Uma Shankar. While Kanak Rathi is a modern yet rooted, carefree and a determined independent girl, Uma Shankar is a purist with strong beliefs in following traditions and norms. The contrasting attitudes and character traits of Uma Shankar and Kanak Rathi is what sets the core of Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji. The story is of Kanak’s quest of not being perfectly compatible but transforming oneself to become the perfect soul mate for someone else.”

Talking about his character he said, “Babasa became a hugely popular character from ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ and fans now recognise me with the same character. For the sequel, ‘Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh Piyaji’, I have added my own flavour in the character which will make it even more witty. Viewers will also witness an interesting bond between babasa and his grandchildren – Ved, Vansh, Kanak and Golu”
