Advisor to the Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mr Manoj Parida, formally opened a Mini Covid Centre setup by Rotary Satellite Club of Chandigarh in Sector 47 Community Centre. Mr Parida inspected the facilities that have been created in a highly hygienic conditions with 24-hours facilities of medical support and oxygen, in the Community Centre. Looking at the growing number of Covid patients we issued an appeal to the NGOs to come forward and I was sure that Rotary is one organization that would definitely respond, Manoj Parida said.

He commended the Rotarians for setting up the facility within 5 days after we allotted them the space, and they are offering everything free from medicines, oxygen, nursing care, and food. Right after joining as Advisor to the Administrator I had attended the first function by Rotary and have learnt that it is synonym with service and whenever we need them they respond, he added. He said that we are proud that we have nearly 200 beds in the mini-covid centres created so far and people from anywhere can come here and get admitted.

Rtn Tanu Mehtani, Chairperson of Rotary Satellite Club Chandigarh expressed her gratitude to different corporate, Rotarians, and even the residents welfare association for coming forward and supporting this effort of Rotary. She said that the Centre is equipped with all medical supplies, oxygen, and nursing support 24×7. Incharge of the Rotary Mini Covid Centre, Rtn Dr MP Singh, who is the incoming Chair of the Rotary Satellite Club advised that people should delay consulting a doctor instead of getting into a denial mode or resorting to self-medication.  He said that delay in proper treatment can result to serious health repercussions.

The event was attended by the nodel officer, Chairman of Chandigarh Housing Board, Mr Yashpal Garg, Past Presidents of Rotary Club Chandigarh, Rtn Man Mohan Singh Kohli, Rtn A P Singh. Rtn Baldev Agarwal, among others.”At the time of crisis, it’s our moral duty to pay back to our society. We have decided to setup this makeshift hospital in order to provide relief to the suffering patients. The 20-beded hospital is possible due to the help of our fellow Rotarian friends, philanthropists and families. I once again insist that together we will overcome this difficult times,” said RK Saboo
