Para Sports Society of Chandigarh conducted its Inaugural Chandigarh CP Athletics Championship 2023 on 25th March 2023 at Sector 46, Sports Complex, Chandigarh.

The Championship had a grand opening in the presence of Mr Rajesh Tomar, President CPSFI and Mr Saurabh Arora, Director, Sports UT Chandigarh.

Children from GRIID, sector 31, Sorem, sector 36, Bhavan Vidyalay, sector 27, Asha Army School, Chandi Mandir, Post Graduation College, sector 11, Post Graduation College, sector 42 participated.

PSSC is the member of Cerebral Palsy Sports Federation of India (CPSFI), a NSF recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India with a mandate to promote sports for persons with cerebral palsy.

Mr Tomar in his address emphasised on the need for proper classification of the athletes to ensure the Championship is fair and just. Mr Saurabh Arora declared the Championship open and in his address assured all support from the Department of Sports, Chandigarh to ensure promotion of sports for persons with cerebral palsy in the UT of Chandigarh.

Following the events, CPSFI conducted its 34th Sangiti, an awareness program on cerebral palsy and sports at the conference hall, sports complex, sector 42. Mr Saurabh Arora when addressing the participants said the program was crisp and well explained. He proposed that similar Sangiti should be conducted involving the departments of education and social justice along with sports soon.

Mr Kashmira Singh, General Secretary, PSSC thanked the Sports Department, UT Administration for their logistics and infrastructure support in his vote of thanks. He also mentioned that PSSC would endeavour is a good participation at the upcoming National Athletics in New Delhi.
