The valedictory function of ‘Saksham 2023’ (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav), the fortnight long campaign to bring awareness among citizens about the acute need for petroleum conservation was held at the auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA), Sector 26 here. The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Oil PSUs have been conducting a fuel conservation drive every year. A conservation pledge was held. A ‘nukkad natak’ that gave a message to save petroleum was also organised.
Girish Jain , Chief General Manager, Indian Oil Corporation on behalf of Jitendra Kumar, State Level Coordinator (Oil Industry), Punjab & Executive Director, Indian Oil Corporation(IOC), Chandigarh gave the welcome address and Subodh Choudhry, State Level Coordinator (Oil Industry), U.T. Chandigarh & Deputy General Manager (Retail), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) Chandigarh thanked the senior dignitaries for sparing time to grace the occasion and gave details of various activities organized by IOC, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd(BPCL), HPCL, Gas Authority of India Ltd(GAIL) in Chandigarh & Punjab.
Other prominent dignitaries’ present included, Sanjay Choubey, State Head (Retail), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Chandigarh, and S P Singla, General Manager, GAIL. Among others present were officers from all oil companies, LPG distributors, retail outlet dealers, lube distributors, school children, and participants from the transport sector.
During the campaign, debate and wall painting competitions in schools, group talks on oil and gas conservation in resident welfare associations and housing societies, fuel efficient driving contest, and LPG Panchayat were organized in Punjab and Chandigarh. One Mobile Van travelled in Chandigarh and Punjab to give the message on oil & gas conservation. An online pledge was also undertaken on fuel conservation.
