Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi held a memorial meeting this morning to pay tributes to J R Yadava, a senior artist from Chandigarh, who passed away on 9th July 2017.
Many artists, art lovers, art students, colleagues and relatives attended this meeting in which a slide presentation of his artistic journey was shown to the viewers.
Yadava was born in Hansi, Haryana on 8th June 1933, graduated in Fine Arts from Panjab University, Chandigarh and was employed in the Panjab University till the time he retired.
He was a recipient of Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi awards in the years 1969, 1970 and 1996.
He was honoured as a veteran artist by the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, New Delhi in 1993 and was a Life Member of AIFACS.
He had held many solo shows of his art from 1963 to 2007 apart from participating in many group shows including the National Lalit Kala Akademi and the AIFACS.
In his quest for art he visited Middle east and East European countries in 1975.
He lived and practised his art in Mohali, Punjab.
Those who attended this meeting included Diwan Manna, artist and President, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, artists Malkit Singh, S Raj Kumar, Bheem Malhotra, Ravinder Sharma, Mahesh Prajapati, Pramod Arya, Anand Sharma, Vishal Bhatnagar, Pradeep Verma and Photographers Tejbans Singh Jauhar. His Son in law Karam Giri, his grandosn Sidharth were also there.
