Valedictory Programme of the Seven Day/night camp on the theme ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Digital India and Cashless society” was held in the college auditorium of PG Govt. College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh today. Dr. Navdeep Sharma, NSS Coordinator, Punjab University, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
A cultural programme was organized on the occasion by the NSS Volunteers attending the camp. It was informed that 250 volunteers participated in the camp held from 22nd December 2017 to 28thDecember 2017. During the camp, the volunteers focused on issues related to theme of the camp. They visited the village Khudda Jassu, organized rallies, lectures and door to door campaigns to motivate the villagers towards hygiene, cleanliness and benefits of digital literacy. They informed the villagers about the ways to ensure digital security.
During the camp, experts in the field were invited for interaction with the volunteers. The camp was inaugurated on 22nd December by Mr Bikram Rana, State Liasion Officer. The volunteers were addressed by MsAmannavneet Kaur, Sernior Physiotherapist from PGI, Chandigarh. Mr Gaurav Gaur from PU Chandigarh and Prof Pardeep Singh Walia, from the college on the issues related to Swachhta and Digital India.
Prof O P Katare, Prof Nandita were part of the daily meditation and Self Development course. A Self defense training programme was organized for the volunteers by the Chandigarh Police.
Addressing the NSS Volunteers on the valedictory function. Dr.Navdeep Sharma motivated them to be agents of change in the society. She told them about the new initiatives taken by the University for Welfare of the youth. The Chief Guest gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions held during the camp.
