Around 200 hundred participants from 8 states participated in various categories at the 10th National Dance Sports Championship, which was organised by All India Dance Sports Federation (AIDSF).

Varun DS Rana, coach of Aashna said, “It’s because of her sheer determination and focus that she has been able to perform better in every tournament. I have full faith that she will make India proud again at the Word Salsa Summit in 2020.”

He added that Aashna is also aiming to win India its first medal in the Asian Indoor Games to be held in 2021.

Aashna said, “I was very nervous at the back stage and my heart was thumping loudly. But as soon as I got on the stage I felt that this is what I have been born to do. When I came on stage I just enjoyed every moment and all went well.”

She expressed her deep gratitude to her teachers and parents and said, “My role models are my parents and my coach Varun D S Rana, who has worked hard to bring out the best in me.”

Rekha Bagri, Aashna’s mother said, “As a mother, I’ve always been by her side at every performance and have seen all her ups and downs. She overcomes every challenge with a very cool and composed mind and has shown both talent and maturity.”

With these twin medals Aashna has continued her winning ways. She had recently won the 2nd runners up trophy competing at the Salsa semi-pro category in Asian Dance Championship, held at the Indian International Dance Congress (IIDC), Bengaluru.
