Punjab & Haryana High Court Advocate and Tanuj Goyal has formally requested Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), to reopen the application portal for the UGC NET June-2024 Examination.

The examination, initially scheduled for June 18, 2024, but cancelled on the basis of inputs from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, prima-facie indicating that the integrity of the examination may have been compromised.
According to a notification from the National Testing Agency (NTA) dated June 28, 2024, the new dates for the UGC NET Examination are from August 21, 2024, to September 4, 2024.

In his representation, Advocate Goyal highlights the need for fairness and accessibility in the examination process. He advocates for reopening the application portal and publishing a fresh timetable for submissions, which would provide new aspirants the opportunity to apply. This approach would ensure a more diverse and inclusive pool of candidates. “The re-scheduling of the examination necessitates offering opportunities to all qualified candidates or eligible aspirants,” he said. “It is a matter of equity to ensure that everyone who meets the eligibility criteria has the chance to compete on a level playing field.”

Advocate Goyal’s request emphasizes the importance of equal opportunities for all aspiring candidates, particularly those who may have missed the initial deadline due to unforeseen circumstances. He trusts that Prof. Kumar will consider this request favorably, recognizing the critical role of equity and fairness in the educational examination process.

This news aims to raise awareness about the importance of equal opportunities for all candidates and advocate for a fair application process for the UGC NET June-2024 Examination.
