Basant Panchmi was today celebrated with full vivacity and festivity at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, near Chandigarh today at Campus. The members of the institute decorated the campus with yellow rangoli. Staff and Students wore yellow cloth and Yellow rice a dish specific to the occasion was also distributed among all present. The students showcased the vibrant tradition of Punjab depicting the spirit of inner freedom, creative pride and zest for life. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the function.
It is to be mentioned here that 5th day of the bright fortnight of the lunar month of Magh is the day of Basant Panchmi. This Panchmi is also known as Saraswati Day as it is believed that this day is Saraswati’s birthday. Yellow color is given special importance on this day. Sweetmeats of yellowish hues are exchanged with relatives and friends.
