The book ‘Bhagavad Gita – Saying it the Simple Way’ written by Vijay Singal was released at Chandigarh Press Club here today. The book is a compilation of supreme life changing shlokas from the Gita along with their English and Hindi translations respectively, for easy understanding of the readers. The placement of shlokas has been restricted to two shlokas per page so that the readers don’t lose interest due to too much of text in a single page. The book has got blessings from popular Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar.

Vijay Singal, a former bureaucrat, is an eminent author in the field of spirituality, philosophy, psychology and religion. He has presented the shlokas in simple and lucid language and has kept it to the point as extensive description often leads to divergence from the main plot. In the course of penning the book he ensured that the exact meaning and real intent of the shlokas is not compromised so that the readers are able to decipher the meaning of the shlokas without minimal help from other individuals.

Vijay Singal’s previous books, namely, ‘A Divinity in Flow : Ganga’, ‘Absolute Oneness : The Journey Within’, ‘Hinduism : From Maya to Moksha’, ‘Behind Psychology : Searching for the Roots’, ‘Psyche of the Common Man’, ‘Manovigyan : Jeevan Ka Rahasya’, ‘Eternal Echoes : The Journey to the Self’, and ‘Sparkling Punjab’ are all time best-sellers.

Talking about the book, Vijay Singal said, “In these frenetic times, one can easily get swayed by the goings on in society, and find that time has flown by, leaving one rather dishevelled and deteriorated, perhaps not so much physically, as mentally. The message that shlokas gives us is that we need to look at the bigger picture. We need to control our thoughts and not worry unendingly. We need to realise that our problems are not obstacles but stepping stones to success.”

The messages in the book could help change lives of people irrespective of their age group as it sheds light on the harsh realities of the world and how one can tame various situations by implementing them. It describes graphically the truth behind existence, ultimate purpose of life; and various means of achieving materialistic success and spiritual fulfilment.

Even in the today’s world of cut-throat competition, the teachings of Bhagvad Gita are much relevant as they make one question oneself about one’s existence, purpose, relation with the universe and what is the real nature of human being.Finding answers to these questions helps in connecting the dots and giving real meaning and direction to one’s life, hence gaining true satisfaction and contentment that a person looks for. The Gita teaches various useful lessons such as qualities of a leader, one must not shy away from facing challenges, to stay resilient, renouncing arrogance and ignorance etc. No matter what era it is but these lessons will never fade away and will always be required for living a successful and content life.
