Riding on a fine start by the top order, Bird Zone laid a strong foundation against Terrace Zone in the third match of the UTCA Men’s Under-19 Cricket Tournament being played at the Baba Balak Nath Cricket Ground, Kaimbala on Wednesday. Bird Zone after opting to bat first scored 267/4 wherein Rannvijay Singh (91) was the top contributor followed by Aryan Mehta (74) and Ishaan Gaba (61) on the first day. Meanwhile, another match played at Chandigarh Institute of Cricket at Kaimbala witnessed Sukhna Zone’s struggle against Plaza Zone. Team scored 212/8 before the stumps were drawn. Tejveer (43) and Ashutosh (40) were the top scorer for the side.
Earlier in the tournament on Tuesday, a scintillating century by Devang Kaushik (124) steered Rose Zone to register an emphatic ten-wicket win over Rock Zone. In reply to Rock Zone’s 137, Rose Zone amassed 288 runs and ensured a handsome lead of 151 runs. Rock Zone again dismissed cheaply for 190 and gave opposition a target of mere 39 runs which was surpassed by Rose Zone without losing a wicket.
Meanwhile, the match between Peace Zone and Leisure Zone ended in a draw. Leisure Zone scored 288 runs in reply to Peace Zone’s 183. Peace Zone scored 87/2 in their second innings which resulted in a draw.
