“Business with a heart appeals to me,” says Ananya Birla, the Next Scion of Birla Family

For someone so young, it is rare to talk about the ‘betterment of others’ and ideate how ‘to make this world a better place’ for everyone! After the start up culture, India is flooded with young entrepreneurs but not many think of creating a better society! But here is an exception! A case in point is the daughter of the 10^th richest man in India (Kumar Mangalam Birla) Ananya Birla, who was just 17 when she started her first company, a microfinance firm to support rural women about 6 years ago.

Ananya, an Oxford University graduate, adorns the cover page of The Lifestyle Journalist Magazine’s July 2018 cover in a different avtar. An entrepreneur, song writer and singer Ananya shares some great insights of her personal life in an exclusive interview to the magazine. “I want my personal passion and bigger goals (of everybody’s betterment) to merge someday. Business with a heart appeals to me,” says Ananya in the interview. She reveals how she has been through a tormenting time, emotionally, during her days at Oxford. Her own journey motivated her to start MPower, a mental health organization, to support those in need during emotional and mental crisis. “The number of cases of suicides and depression are rising in India and something needs to be done about it,” she adds. Even though she is young, one needs to read her interview and hear her opinions on matters that are of great relevance to business, society and life in general.
