Five hundred children participated in an event to highlight the importance of empowering the girl child, in Chandigarh today. The event, which marked the National Day of the Girl Child, was organised jointly by the Consulate-General of Canada and Vatsal Chaya, a civil society organisation, working to provide education opportunities for under-privileged children in urban environments. The event highlighted the importance of equal education opportunities for all girls.
