Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing various events in different departments. JIGYASA-The Science Society under IQAC of the college organized inter-college “SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FEST”. The function was sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Chandigarh Administration, on the theme “Popularization of Science and Technology”. On this occasion various Inter College Competitions like Rangoli Competition, Logo Designing Competition and a lecture on the said theme were organized to sensitize students regarding Science and its importance in day to day life.
A Lecture cum presentation was given by Dr.Sugandha Maheshwary, INSPIRE faculty, Department of Mathematical Sciences, IISER Mohali. She gave a power point presentation to the students to motivate young girls to take up a career in Science, Technology, engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the College in her address to the students and faculty members highlighted that Science is a term for knowledge and this can lead to entirely new technologies one could not even have imagined.
The department of English organized an Open house on the theme of Women Empowerment: Present and Future. Poster Making competition and an Open house on Women’s Issues was organized by the department of Commerce. The department of Psychology commemorated the event by arranging an interaction with the Alumnae of the college.
Prof. Dr. Anita Kaushal, Principal of the College congratulated the students and staff for commemorating the occasion with vigor and enthusiasm.
