Chandigarh Garvotsav 2024, a week-long celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community, successfully hosted its community movie screening event, Filmy Batein, on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024. Held at the Pracheen Kala Kendra in Sector 71, the event drew a vibrant crowd eager to celebrate inclusivity and diverse experiences through cinema.

Curating Stories, Fostering Connection:

Filmy Batein offered attendees a curated film selection that explored the rich spectrum of LGBTQIA+ lives. The film navigated around physical limitations, societal expectations, and blossoming love with another woman and explored themes of sexuality, disability, and the pursuit of one’s dreams. Following the screening, the audience engaged in thoughtful discussions, fostering a sense of community and connection.

The success of Filmy Batein, and Chandigarh Garvotsav 2024 as a whole, is attributed to the collaboration of various organizations: Queering in Chandigarh, Saksham Prakriti Welfare Society Chandigarh, Queer Lifafa, Aashray NGO, Chata Phirta Parda, Chandigarh Administration, Keshav Suri Foundation, Humsafar Trust, Copan, and Khanak. Through their combined efforts, they fostered a week-long platform for awareness, acceptance, and celebration.
