The BCCI’s General Manager and former Test cricketer Abhay Kuruvilla visited Chandigarh on Saturday to explore the cricket perspectives in the city and the possibilities of hosting major BCCI events in the near future. UTCA President Sanjay Tandon along with his senior functionaries apprised Kuruvilla about the potentials of cricket in Chandigarh. Tandon informed that UTCA had hosted Syed Mushtaq Ali in two venues along with other big events in the past. Under 19 Girls NCA also concluded successfully in the recent times. He said that UTCA has given a new dimension to cricket in the city within a very short span of its inception. The city is blessed with high quality of hotels, transportation, stadiums, practice grounds, infrastructure with favorable weather and manpower that can make any BCCI event possible. Kuruvilla also visited the two grounds at Kaimbala, DAV School, Sector 8, Punjab Engineering College, Law Department Ground at PU, Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Mahajan Cricket Ground at IT Park and GMSS School Sector 26, 19, 23 and 32 and reviewed their conditions. Kuruvilla will soon submit his report to the BCCI.
