On the second day of Hasyam, three-day annual Comedy Theatre Festival 2023, ‘Udhar ka Pati’, was staged at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18 here today. The play was staged by Group Veena Pani Kala Mandir, Jaipur, which has been Directed by Tapan Bhatt.
Two–minute silence was observed before the play started, to pay tribute to the former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal who passed away yesterday.
It is said that to hide one lie, one has to tell hundreds of lies, and then a lot of hard work has to be done to prove those lies right. Sheela, the heroine of the play also told a lie and to prove it right in front of her grandfather she made those efforts that cost the lives of her husband and other family members.
It was the limit when the matter reached the police. Then how Sheela and her husband came out of this trap and how she had to tell the truth in the end, all of this in the drama left the audience watching Udhaar Ka Pati enthralled.
The star cast included Vishal Bhatt, Abhishek Jhankal, Saurabh Bhatt, Jhilmil, Richa Paliwal, Aarushi Keshot, Chitransh Mathur, Shahrukh Khan and Kamlesh Chandani.
Group Veena Pani Kala Mandir has organized and played more than 1000 Full Length Plays Show nationwide and is also responsible for organizing more than 500 Musical Shows nationwide.
Meanwhile, on the concluding day (April 27, Thursday), ‘My Wife’s 8th Vachan’ will be staged by the Group, The Films and Theatre Society, Mumbai, and has been Directed by Atul Satya Koushik.
The festival includes three comedy plays, featuring prominent theatre artists from different parts of the country. The festival is being organised by Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration and Tagore Theatre Society, Chandigarh. The plays are being staged from April 25 to 27 daily at 6:30 pm at Tagore Theatre, Sector 18 here and the entry is free.
