DFC started their AIFF Club Championship campaign with a thrilling win over JCT FC. The semi-finalists of the last edition were taken by surprise early on when JCT went 2-0 up inside 7 minutes. The DFC team, however, didn’t let their tempo drop as they scored two goals in the 9th minute to equalize. In this Futsal Championship, DFC are playing with only under-17 players, and this match was a perfect example of their scary potential and a bright future ahead. The first half ended with JCT taking a one-goal lead but it was DFC who dominated the proceedings.

The magic of Akshay Sawant came into play in the second half as his boys produced an impeccable display. With a brace in two minutes, Poirenganba (24’, 25’) made an instant impact in the second half for DFC. After gaining the lead, DFC’s young guns put JCT FC under constant pressure with a completely dominant compact display. Despite DFC winning 4-3, they could’ve easily had a larger margin had luck been on their side. DFC players may be young on paper but are serial winners with the Mina Cup, and Gothia Cup already in the cabinet. They will now tussle against Golazo FC on 28th June.
